Privacy Policy
The short version.
Everything you create in Align — your check-ins, streaks, notes, logs, reminders, and your name — stays on your device. We never receive it.
The only thing we collect is anonymous, aggregate usage analytics that help us understand which parts of the app get used, so we can make it better. It is not tied to your identity, and you can turn it off any time in the app. No account, no advertising, no cross-app tracking, and nothing is ever sold.
What stays on your device
Align works fully on your iPhone. The following is stored only in the app's local storage on your device and is never sent to us or anyone else:
- Your first name and onboarding preferences, if you provide them
- Your daily coach conversation (the messages in your thread)
- Completed sessions and exercise logs
- Pain check-ins (a 0–10 level and an optional note)
- Streaks, rest days, and daily reminder settings
- Session preferences and any custom exercises you create
This data lives only on your device. If you delete the app, this data is deleted with it. There is no account and no login — Align never asks you to sign in. The daily coach runs entirely on your device, so your messages are not sent to us or any server.
What we collect: anonymous usage analytics
To understand how Align is used and to improve it, the app sends anonymous, aggregate product-interaction and app-lifecycle events to our analytics provider. Examples of what these events describe:
- Which screens are opened (for example, the catalog or a guided session)
- Whether a session was started and whether a hold was completed
- An exercise's identifier and its set/rep counts
- When the app is opened or sent to the background
These events do not include:
- Your name, your notes, or your conversation messages
- Your pain levels or any other health details
- An advertising identifier (IDFA), and no cross-app or cross-site tracking
- Anything linked to your identity — the analytics are not associated with you personally
This is the only category of data collected: product interaction, used solely for analytics, not linked to your identity and not used for tracking. This matches the app's privacy manifest and its App Store privacy label. We do not sell data, ever.
Analytics are processed by PostHog, Inc. on its US
cloud (us.i.posthog.com). See
PostHog's privacy policy
for how it handles the data it processes on our behalf.
Your choice
You can turn analytics off at any time. In the app, open Options → Privacy and switch off “Share anonymous usage data.” The change takes effect immediately and is remembered across launches — no further events are sent while it is off.
Third parties
The only third parties involved are PostHog (anonymous analytics, described above) and Apple, which distributes the app through the App Store under Apple's privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Align handles data, we will update this page and revise the “last updated” date above. Material changes will also be reflected in the app's App Store privacy information.
